Caricatures: GA David Purdue vs. Michelle Nunn

The good news today for democrats is that Michelle Nunn has taken a lead in the latest SurveyUSA poll of the Georgia Senate race. Among likely voters she is getting 48 percent, Republican David Perdue is at 45 percent, and Libertarian Amanda Swafford stands at three percent.

This is a four point improvement for Nunn since the last SurveyUSA poll, but who is leading at this moment in Georgia is not as important as it is in other states. Under Georgia’s election rules if no candidate gets over 50 percent there will be a run off election in January and with the Libertarian Swafford in the race that seems likely.

Beside that, almost all other other news this morning for Senate Democrats has been very bad. Yesterday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee pulled out of the Kentucky Senate race.

In Colorado, a new CNN poll is latest to indicate Republican Cory Gardner improving against incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Udall. Gardner holds a four point lead in that poll.

Finally, a new ABC-Washington Post poll found Republicans with an incredible 7 point lead in the generic ballot among likely voters. In addition, the poll also found the party’s favorable rating at a 30 year low, but at least that is still better than the Republican party’s favorable rating.
